This is a typical work by the circle of the Rhinish still life painter, Johann Martin Metz. He was court painter to the Electors of Cologne in Bonn. Metz was employed by the Elector of Cologne, Clemens August of Bavaria, and later by the Elector, Karl Theodor of the Palatinate. This drawing is an attractive example of the German Rococo. It might have been a design for wall decoration.
